Recently I thought I would start trying to get into the power trading SCENE but I have a few questions on the current High-End minis market.

As most of the people selling/buying the high-end minis are power traders, than how are people making money from this. Do you buy the pets at the current price, then wait several months and sell once the pets have increased in price? Or do you try to find that person who really wants to sell/the noob who happens to have a rare mini, and just ignore the people asking for the b/os they see in the high-end trade (even if noone actually bids at that price)

Thanks for your input and I'm sorry if any of this has been talked to death already but the search function did not come up with the information I was seeking, and most was out of date anyway.

Mostly they're used as a form of currency.

A Oni at 1750e only takes one storage space, where as you'd need 7 slots for the ecto.

Uhm, I don't understand: wouldn't a stack of armbraces take less space then 6 oni while being worth more? Or are you referring to more expensive minis?

How about mins, that aren't quite that high-end, such as Celestial Pigs, Grawl, Ded Yeti, Smite Crawler etc? They aren;t really saving you any space...

(I know these minis might not fit the high-end minis category)

GW is about showing off.

From your armor, to your cape trim, to your titles and weapons, to your minis.

High end minis are some of the most profound ways to show off, which is why they are popular. In the end an Unded Oni can be shown off, and increases in rarity. 7 Stacks of ectos, or some armbraces just don't have that same effect.

Buy in game.

Sell on guru.

you will never find bargains on guru as everyone bids upto the current market value. everyone knows the current prices of things. but most peop[le on game dont use guru, so you may come across a really good deal, you just need to know the prices of things so you dont overpay and potentially lose money

armbraces are tainted, plus high end traders already have those ugly tormented weapons. And everyone would rather have ectos.

and basicly if you are starting out in power trading you need to be good at b.s.'ing people into thinking that your item is worth more then the fair market value. thus being a scammer in my eyes, there are better ways to make money from ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME. so please learn some highend farm builds join a good guild that runs the areas regularly.

Short of getting the greatest drops ever, all day every day, power trading is probably the fastest way to make money in the game.

When trading high end minis, or any high end item for that matter, the goal is to find someone who either a) does not really know what it is worth, or b) someone who wants to unload it quickly. Then you find someone who is willing to market value for it, or if you are super lucky, someone who overpays.

You can buy stuff on prospect and hope it goes up, but you can make more money continually buying and selling than sinking a few hundred/thousand ectos into a mini and then having it sit there. Make your money work!

You will never see someone selling an Oni in game. And if they are wouldn't you think tehy've already checked Guru for 'the most current price'?

This may work for Cheap things like VS or Obby Edges, but not for an Island Guardian, Vizu, or Oni.

It's all about buying in game, and selling on guru. This is how power trading works:

EVERY item in the game has a value, but no one set value. For example, item A might be worth 10-15k. it's not a set price, but range, because you can get the item for either price or anywhere in between depending on where you are and who you go to. As you get to rarer and more expensive items, the range of value increases. So if you have item B worth say 120-140e, you can buy it at 120e, and sell it at 140e. Now, because you're dealing in expensive merchandise, you've increased your profits from the 5k you made power trading item A, to 20e power trading item B. You can only imagine what the price range is on ectos worth thousands of ectos, but know that the range is in the hundreds and even thousands of ectos the higher up you go. When you have enough money to deal in those items, it's literally like taking candy from a baby. It's not even about buying something for less than it's really worth, it's just about buying it at the lowest price of its price range, then selling at the highest price of its price range.

Not worth the time. Why would you spend one hour to make maybe 50 ecto's? Thats like a silly €10,- an hour. A real job pays more and is often less boring than powertrading. And often you won't get those 50 ecto's an hour but like 10 or maybe 20.

I don't see why your are comparing power trading to having a job... Unless you are saying to buy your gold, in which case this thread is not for you.

So, is life as a power trader sitting in ad1 kama with a notepad jotting down prices?

Wrong...i just saw some guy selling an unded Oni for 3000e in kamdan today; and Just yesterday someone was selling an unded Island Guardian.

I'm sorry. I didnt realize that powertrading is fun for people. I just assumed that people where powertrading to gain some hard cash.

Would you rather spend 10x as much time farming to achieve what you could achieve by just power trading? A lot of people value their time and power trading is the most efficient at making money so you can do the things you want to do.

Good power traders don't need to spend real life cash to get rich.

I'm talking about spending real life money at the forefront. What you are implying is what you did with your in game wealth after you've earned it. Completely irrelevant to what I was trying to point out.
